FORMER Eastleigh boss Chris Todd has taken on a player-coach's role with National League South outfit Truro City.

The 35-year old, who had been training with his old club Torquay United after parting company with the Spitfires in August, has agreed a short-term deal with the White Tigers.

Truro boss Lee Hodges said: “I'm looking for a little bit of experience. It'll only be a short deal as he'll want to go on and manage somewhere else.

"I played with Toddy at Torquay when we got promoted from the Conference. I've worked with him and he's a winner.”

Todd was an unused sub as Truro were comfortably beaten 3-0 at home by Hampton & Richmond Borough this afternoon.

*GOSPORT Borough got a bitter taste of their own medicine today.

Just four days after recording a club record 19-1 win over Widbrook in the Portsmouth Senior Cup, Alex Pike’s men were brought crashing back to earth 6-0 by Chelmsford City – their heaviest defeat in the National League South.

Borough trailed by just an 18th-minute Billy Bricknell strike at the break, but the second half was a disaster zone as they conceded five and had Tom Bird sent off.

Chelmsford arrived unbeaten in eight games and flexed their second-half muscles through Bagasan Graham, Josh Rees, ex-Havant man Shamir Mullings, a Sam Pearce own goal and Bricknell’s second of the match.

Bird’s dismissal for an alleged elbow offence compounded Gosport’s misery.

Bad news too for Poole Town, condemned to their first home league defeat of the season, 3-1, by lowly Oxford City.

Mike Fondop and Scott Davies (penalty) put the visitors two up at the break before sub Sam Surridge replied for the Dolphins.

But Oxford’s new signing, journeyman striker Jefferson Louis, capped his debut with a stoppage-time third.
