Jacob Rees-Mogg has been moved from his job as Leader of the House as part of Boris Johnson’s reshuffle.
The shake-up of the ministerial team follows the appointment of Stephen Barclay as the Prime Minister’s chief of staff and several resignations.
Mr Rees-Mogg will sit at the Cabinet table in his new role as Minister for Brexit Opportunities and Government Efficiency.
The Conservative MP for North East Somerset was previously the Leader of the House of Commons.
Meanwhile, Mark Spencer has been moved from Chief Whip to Commons Leader and Stuart Andrew has been appointed Minister for Housing in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
The switch-up comes as Mr Johnson seeks to relaunch his administration following the partygate row.
The Prime Minister's leadership was plunged into further turmoil after the fifth Government aide quit Downing Street.
Elena Narozanski, a special advisor in the No 10 policy unit, stepped down from her role after four of his closest aides resigned.
Mr Johnson’s chief of staff, principal private secretary, director of communications and policy chief all quit Downing Street within hours of one another.
Munira Mirza, the former director of the No 10 policy unit and one of Mr Johnson’s most loyal and longstanding advisers, walked out after attacking the Prime Minister’s use of a “scurrilous” Jimmy Savile smear against Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.
