PUBGOERS at one New Forest will get a Jubilee treat when they can pay for their drinks at 1952 prices.

The White Hart in Cadnam is celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by reintroducing ration books which will enable bearers to buy drinks at prices from 60 years ago.

Landlord Tim Whittington, said: “We thought it would be fun to re-create conditions of 1952, so we’re issuing customers with Ration Books which they can download from our website, which entitles them to a pint or a glass of wine at 1952 prices each day of the weekend.

“The catch is, they’ll have to pay for the drink in old money too, so I imagine there’ll be a bit of rooting around in attics over the next few days. If people can’t find any old currency, it’s not the end of the world as they can still use the Ration Book to claim a drink for half-price.”

The pub will also serve a selection of nostalgic dishes from the 1950s.

There will also be activities for the children each afternoon to raise cash for Oakhaven Hospice.
