POLICE are stepping up drink-driving patrols in Hampshire as thousands celebrate the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics.

Last year 561 people were arrested between June and September for getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.

But Hampshire police believe more may risk it with the extra celebrations this year.

The warning comes as police prepare to draft in extra officers for the Jubilee celebrations.

On the roads, early morning operations will also target those with alcohol still in their system from the night before.
