IT’S the weekend of the year for Hampshire bike fans!

It’s fantastic that Sunday sees the second round of the MCE British Super-bike Championship (BSB) at Thruxton with local teams topping the charts.

Tommy Hill is top after a win and a second at Brands Hatch for Verwood-based Worx Crescent Suzuki, while Southampton-based GNS team’s Sam Lowes leads the Fuchs Silkolene Supersports Championship.

But for fans’ logistical nightmare we’ve also got World Championship action with sidecar motocross back at Langrish, near Petersfield – and with a twist. The Sidecar World Champion-ship circus returns to the stunning Manor Farm hillside circuit beside the A272 Winchester Road after a 12-year gap.

And for the first time ever in this country on the same weekend will be the British round of the European Quad Championship with a huge British entry of 13 riders competing against the best quad riders in Europe.

Langrish, home of the annual Ken Hall Trophy Motocross, is a natural circuit with steep hills and huge drop off jumps and set in the heart of Hampshire’s beautiful countryside.

British favourites are Stuart Brown and his passenger Luke Peters.

But also accepted to ride against global stars are local sidecar boys, from the village of Langrish, Roger Blackman and Jonnie Waters.

Also in the distinguished field are Scott Wilkinson from Horndean teamed up with David Keane, and Scott’s nephew Brett Wilkinson with passenger Ross Parmenter while passenger Ryan Humphrey, again from Horndean, teams up with his rider Nick Jarvis.
