Jon joined the O.T team in 2004, more by luck than judgement. He saw O.T advertised in a newsletter at school and thought he would attend the meeting after his Dad kept pestering him to go.” It’s a great opportunity for you to get a foot in the door” said his Dad, unknowing that five years on Jon would Head the Music section, as O.T made the transition from magazine to website.
In 2006, Jon left Chamberlayne Park Secondary School in Southampton and enrolled at Itchen College. In his time at Itchen, Jon was heavily involved in the college radio station, Itchen Radio, where he picked up a City & Guilds Medal of Excellence out of 750,000 people, for his Radio show called Itchen Extra.
After leaving Itchen College in 2009, Jon then proceeded to the University of Westminster in London to study Radio Production.
Jon is currently in his 1st year at Westminster but already has a weekly radio show on Smoke Radio, the University’s student Radio station, which is broadcast; live every Wednesday afternoon from 3pm.
In his spare time Jon tries to get as much work experience in Radio as he can. He is a volunteer at Winchester Hospital Radio and also helps out on BBC Radio 5 Live on’ Sportsweek’, which broadcasts every Sunday morning.
He is very passionate about music and aims to be “on the radio somewhere” in the future.
