SHOPPERS are stripping supermarket shelves bare as they frantically stock up for the big freeze.
The result of the panic buying is made worse as deliveries can’t get through the heavy snows and icy roads with supplies.
One of the worst-hit stores was Asda in Chandler’s Ford.
The Daily Echo understands that it ran out of milk, bread and fruit, and staples such as tea bags and meat were low.
Tesco in Winnall, Winchester, was also badly hit, with many shelves empty by yesterday evening, pictured above.
Neither supermarket giant was available to comment on when new deliveries were expected.
