A vigil being held to honour the life of a TV star, who grew up in Southampton, has changed location due to the amount of people that have agreed to attend.

Bafta nominee, Chance Perdomo, best known for playing Ambrose Spellman in Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, died in a motorcycle crash at the age of just 27.

The TV actor grew up and attended school in Southampton and many of his classmates from Redbridge Community School are set to host a vigil in the actor’s honour.

Steven Ayres, 27, from Millbrook, had spent much of his school life in lessons with Chance, who he called ‘talented, funny and popular’.

The vigil was due to take place outside the gates of Redbridge Community School, but due to the number of people that have said they will attend, the location has changed to the Saints Pub in Millbrook.

Steven said that more than 160 people have agreed to be part of the vigil – and that those attending are asked to wear bright colours in honour of Chance’s larger than life personality.

The 27-year-old added: “Myself and so many others that went to school with Chance were just so shocked when we heard the news.

“I was in drama class with Chance and I'll never forget the way he would constantly have us laughing.

“He was so bright and talented and that is clear though the incredible things he went on to achieve before his life was cut short.

“We all knew he loved singing and acting – he was always brilliant in school performances.

“He was popular, funny and so talented – it’s just a devastating loss.”

The actor was head boy at Redbridge Community School during his time studying and Steven said that many of his old teachers have agreed to be part of the vigil efforts on Sunday, April 14.

Blue and silver balloons will also be released into the sky from Mansell Park, next to the Saints Pub.
