Plans to make a previously extended house even bigger have been given the go-ahead.

New Forest District Council has approved a proposal to upgrade a semi-detached property at Compton Road, Totton, by building a single-storey extension.

Totton and Eling Town Council had supported the application.

In a letter to the district council it said: "The proposed extension would be visible from the highway. However, being at ground floor level, it should not have a detrimental impact on the street scene."

A district council report said the proposed development would not be "overly intrusive".

"The extension would project beyond the neighbours' conservatory. However, the adjoining semi is south east of the application site, and the extension would be set off the side boundary," it said.

"The extension should not create issues of loss of light or overshadowing, nor should it create an overbearing form of development."

No objections to the application were received.
