A Fareham man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of importing cannabis into the UK after a police raid on a CBD shop.

On Tuesday, March 26, police in Portsmouth executed six warrants, including in Fareham and Portchester, as part of a day of enforcement action codenamed Operation Blue Island.

Raids were carried out at a CBD shop on Albert Road, Portsmouth, and at an address in Nicholas Crescent, Fareham.

Police said that multiple kilograms of cannabis plant and resin, as well as drug supply paraphernalia, were sized from these sites and officers subsequently arrested a 41-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man from Fareham.

They were arrested on suspicion of importing and being concerned in the supply of cannabis and remain in police custody.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We received intelligence that a CBD shop on Albert Road was suspected to be involved in the supply of illegal drugs.

“Following this information, we have executed a warrant at the shop and also at an address in Nicholas Crescent, Fareham.

“Multiple kilos of cannabis plant and resin, as well as drug supply paraphernalia, has subsequently been located and seized from the sites.

“A 41-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man from Fareham have been arrested on suspicion of importing and being concerned in the supply of cannabis and they remain in police custody at this time.”

The force has said that it is committed to targeting those involved in drug-related activity.

An unconnected cannabis factory was also discovered after officers carried out a warrant at an address on Havant Road, Cosham, where 130 plants were found.

Another warrant was carried out at an address in Penrhyn Avenue after reports were received connecting it to possible drug offences linked to a hairdressing salon in Portchester. Items have been seized from the addresses for further investigation.

In addition to these warrants, a further six people have been arrested as part of enforcement action across Portsmouth. These arrests were in connection with offences including fraud, high-risk domestic abuse, indecent images, and sexual assault.
