Enjoy dragons, dinosaurs and so much more in and around Southampton this weekend.

It's Chinese New Year this weekend. 

The main event will take place on Saturday, the first day of the Year of the Wood Dragon, the fifth animal in the Chinese zodiac cycle. 

There will be five dragons in place in Guildhall Square from 10.30am where families can enjoy dragon and lion dances at the 24th annual celebration.

A parade will make its way down to Westquay at midday where shoppers can enjoy free live performances, including Chinese drumming and dance, martial arts and tai chi displays and a Chinese costume show, as well as lantern making and calligraphy workshops.

Dinosaur Adventure Live is back in Hampshire in time for February half term and it's even more roarsome than ever. 

Join brave rangers at The Point in Eastleigh on Saturday for another action packed dinosaur adventure in the all new show Trouble on Volcano Island. 

When the island's ancient volcano becomes active, it spells danger for everyone – including the dinosaurs. It's a race against time to help the rangers and all our favourite dinosaurs in this thrilling prehistoric expedition, to save Volcano Island from imminent disaster.

Meet the incredible Triceratops, the cheeky Spinosaurus, cute baby dinos and the gigantic T-Rex as we follow in their huge footprints and journey across the island.

Encounter wild new species of dinosaur whilst conquering exhilarating challenges at every turn!  This interactive show is guaranteed to be an unforgettable adventure for the whole family.

Afterwards, there will be a chance to meet the dinos and enjoy a free photo opportunity.

Russell Martin's side take on Huddersfield at St Mary's on Saturday at 3pm as they look to extend their historic unbeaten run to 25 games

The Yorkshire side lie just above the relegation zone and the fixture is close to selling out. 

Meanwhile, it's a sell out at the Silverlake Stadium as Marieanne Spacey-Cale's side take on Women's Super league high fliers Manchester United in the FA Cup in Eastleigh.

A certain pig is returning to the Southampton stage, while there's also a family fun day in the pipeline. 

The new show Peppa Pig's Fun Day Out, based on the much-loved animated TV series, is a live show packed with fun, games and lots of laughs and has various outings this Saturday and Sunday. 

Join Peppa, along with her family and friends as they go to the zoo and also the beach for a special party - it’s going to be an exciting and fun packed day.

Prepare to sing and dance with colourful scarecrows, feed the penguins, build big sandcastles, and even swim in the sea!

Packed full of songs, dance and muddy puddles. Peppa Pig’s Fun Day Out guarantees giggles and snorts for all Peppa fans, and is a perfect introduction to theatre for little ones.

The family fun day will offer a variety of activities suitable for all ages including face painting, crafts and workshops. 

A book swap will also be part of the day of creativity for all the family.
