A WINCHESTER man has been charged nearly £200 after carrying a knife in Romsey.

James Morgan, 37, from Kings Worthy, was sentenced at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 24 for possessing a lock knife in public.

Morgan, of Church Lane, pleaded guilty. He was given a community order and instructed to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £114 surcharge fee.

He was carrying the knife in Romsey on September 3. Morgan must complete 60 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.
