A Southampton nightclub has addressed speculation that it will be closing its doors for good.

Rumours have been circulating online regarding the alleged closure of Switch after being closed for a few weeks.

The club's last posts on Facebook were on December 11.

Speaking to the Echo, a spokesperson from the club confirmed the venue had been closed temporarily.

But it said it would be reopening very soon.

A spokesperson said: “These rumours are not true.

“The club will reopen in a couple of weeks for business as usual when the students return.

“It is not unusual for the club to close between now and when the students return.”

It comes after news that popular nightclub Suburbia on Onslow Road closed for good on Saturday night.

The club is one of many businesses in the city feeling the pinch after the cost-of-living crisis and Covid-19 pandemic.

Revolucion de Cuba  announced its closure, despite the Above Bar Street site undergoing a £80,000 refurb in 2022.

The site closed on January 5.
