Dozens of hedges up to two metres tall were stolen from a garden along with two trees.
The plants were taken from the garden in Worcester Place in Sholing in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
A total of 36 Leylandii hedge plants, ranging from 175cm to 200cm in height, were stolen along with two Holly trees.
They are described as "meticulously shaped into round ball and lollipop formations".
The owners are urging residents in the area to check on any CCTV footage they may have.
Police have reviewed the incident and have filed it pending further lines of enquiry becoming available.
Any new information that comes to light will be reviewed, police have confirmed.
