COMMUTERS' journeys were this morning being disrupted by a burst water main near Colden Common.

Highbridge Road near Eastleigh is closed from Brambridge to Allbrook because of contractors' roadworks near the railway bridge.

In Colden Common, traffic is being diverted down Kiln Lane to Otterbourne, leading to tailbacks.

In Allbrook, drivers are being directed left down Pitmore Road.

The road was first closed from Wardle Road around 5pm on Tuesday, October 31.

Part of Allbrook Hill has been dug up to get to the damaged pipe.

Stagecoach's 61 service from Winchester to Eastleigh is still running. The bus route will divert via Otterbourne Road and Allbrook Way until the road re-opens.

According to one.network the area could be blocked until Friday, November 17. Southern Water has been contacted for comment.

Stagecoach has also warned passengers using the number 69 from Winchester to Fareham to allow extra time for their journeys due to flooding and congestion around Colden Common, Twyford and Fair Oak.

The area has a poor recent record for burst mains with several occurring in Main Road, Colden Common and in Kiln Lane.
