Southampton Film Week is back for its fifteenth year with a packed programme of film screenings, events and activities.

Celebrating features and shorts, documentary and fiction, artists film and film with live music, there’s something for everyone during the event, which runs from November 11 to 21.

Across the city, you will find screenings, workshops, quizzes, talks and masterclasses, with timeless classics and a few surprises.

The eclectic programme includes everything from children's favourites Sing 2 and Clifford the Big Red Dog to Drive My Car, which won Best International Feature Film at the 2022 Oscars.

A team of explorers travel through a wormhole in space attempting to ensure humanity's survival in Christopher Nolan's out of this world sci-fi epic Interstellar, introduced by Nolan scholar Doctor Stuart Joy.

The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog was legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock’s first thriller, and his first critical and commercial success. The Hitchcockian atmosphere at this silent thriller is enhanced with specially-created live music performed by a trio of musicians from Yorkshire Silent Film Festival.

Daily Echo:

Southampton Film Week launches at Turner Sims on Friday with a free innovative performance of music and moving image from composer, pianist, and creative coder Larkhall.

The week continues with the SFW: Shorts Screening and Awards Ceremony at MAST Mayflower Studios on Saturday and then at venues across the city for films and workshops, music and talks, not to mention the legendary Southampton Film Week Quiz at Mettricks Guildhall.

Daily Echo:

You will find SFW, among other places, at City Eye and John Hansard Gallery, Solent University and O2 Guildhall where its iconic pipe organ will accompany Buster Keaton’s Sherlock Jr in classic style!

An exciting programme of new releases sits alongside timely re-runs at MAST in the latter half of the week and, on Saturday November 19, the programme steers towards themes of climate and environment, capitalism and exploitation, the abuse of power and the fight back against it.

With further events at City Eye and John Hansard Gallery, Solent University and University of Southampton, God’s House Tower, The Stage Door and Mettricks Guildhall, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

SFW22 is 30 events over 11 days! Visit southamptonfilmweek.com for more details  and to book tickets.
