A NEW Forest mum who has run, swum, and peddled for Great Britain has won silver in the World Triathlon Championship.

Camille King, from Dibden Purlieu, is a member of Team GB in long-distance triathlons.

The races, which took place in Slovakia last month, challenged athletes with a 2km swim, 80km cycle, and 18km run.

The mother of three won silver for the second time since 2019.

The 45-year-old said she felt "disbelief, joy, pain, relief" after completing the race.

She said: "I cried as I crossed the finish line of the World Championship. So many emotions rush through my mind as always when I complete a major event.

"I felt physical exhaustion as my legs gave in just after I crossed the finishing arch and I fell to the ground. Volunteers picked me up and helped me back on my feet.

"I’m elated with my performance. I feel I have given it my all on the course. That was my objective - to race my heart out.

Camille was beaten by just over 57 seconds.

She hopes to continue to train and "never stop dreaming".

She said: "Of course, I was secretly chasing a World Champion title. Always aim to raise for the top. I came home with a Vice World Champ title instead.

"Now is my time to enjoy the moment, take a bit of recovery time, before building up the training again for my last race of the season, Ironman Italy in 4 weeks.

"As usual, a huge thanks to the family for their love and support. For allowing me to train despite our huge adventure this year.

"Thank you to my sponsors for their support and belief in me."

Camille runs her own fitness company, Dare 2 Dream alongside her GB Triathlon career.
