It feels like 2021 has flown by and with only a handful of bank holidays left this year, it's time we looked a little further ahead.

Every year, hard-working Brits get a handful of days off thanks to bank holidays.

This year, we've seen six bank holidays already across England and Wales.

But how long do we have to wait until the next one and when will we get some well-earned time off next year?

How many Bank Holidays are left in 2021?

You won't have to wait too long for a day off with the next UK bank holiday being held on Monday, December 27 this year.

There will also be another bank holiday on Tuesday, December 28 since both Christmas day and Boxing day are over a weekend this year.

Don't worry if the Christmas season has tired you out because this bank holiday is celebrated across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Bank Holidays in Scotland

Bank holidays work a little different in Scotland than in the rest of the UK.

Scotland does get the standard eight days, including the two remaining holidays on December 27 and 28.

But just like Northern Ireland, Scotland celebrates its patron saint as a bank holiday.

While Northern Ireland has St Patrick's Day on March 17, Scotland also has St Andrew's Day on its way on November 30

When are the Bank Holidays for 2022?

Every year, England and Wales get eight bank holidays with Scotland having nine and Northern Ireland celebrating 10.

Next year, this is set to change with the marking of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The Queen is celebrating 70 years on the throne next year with a 'blockbuster' Bank Holiday weekend.

The celebrations will be held across four days from Thursday, June 2 2022 and will culminate in a final show at Windsor Castle in May.
