ITS THE day aimed at raising millions of pounds for projects involving children up and down the country.

local communities got together to raise funds for BBC Children in Need, and there was plenty on in Southampton.

The ski slopes at the Sports Centre hosted a 12 hour donut ride down the slopes. They had a target of £1000, and at the halfway stage had hit £250, with the after school rush still expected to attend. Groups from Eastleigh College and Southampton University among others were in attendance to do their bit.

 

Starz Ballet, which holds classes for babies and toddlers all over Hampshire, asked children to "wear your spots to raise lots" and donate £1 to do so. They did this in Studio 17, Southampton with Miss Sarah, Stubbington Guide Hall with Miss Lara and Miss Hannah, and Rock Up in Whitely with Miss Hannah and Miss Lara. They also did this at a post-natal mummy and baby class.

Pupils at St James C of E Primary School in West End took part in a non-uniform day and made donations in aid of the cause.

King Edward VI School in Wilton Road held their annual BBC Children in Need Appeal show, with choirs from ten different locations around the UK. They sang A Million Dreams, from the musical The Greatest Showman. One of the locations was BBC Southampton, where choirmaster, Charlotte Forsey, lead a choir of 205 children from King Edward VI School, Stroud School, Wordsworth Primary School, Mount Pleasant Juniors and Springhill Catholic Primary School at the Dobson Theatre.

Kim Garner and her friends, from Romsey, sang at 22 venues in 24 hours across Hampshire. Each set lasted 20 minutes with a Just Giving Page that HSBC matched donations of up to £1,000. She performed in several different Mcdonalds, golf clubs, business parks and shopping centres.

 

Jon Randall and Dominic Bennett, of Active Nation Southampton, rode the new Stages Spin Bikes at The Quays to do their bit for Children in Need 2018.

The Race Centre in Chandlers Ford held their 11th Le Man style 24 hour endurance simulation race in honour of the cause. This is an event that has raised over £60,000 in it's previous meetings, teams of at least three people were going head-to-head around the Nurburgring GP Circuit. This year the teams were given identical 80s BMW M3 E30 German Touring Cars. The race started at 1pm, and will finish today at 1pm.

 

Sydenhams Southampton Kitchens and Bathrooms Showroom celebrated the day with Pudsey and his friends, with fundraising in store.

SOUTHAMPTON singer Craig David was among the stars who surprised project workers funded by BBC Children In Need for the chance to duet with them. performed single I Know You with Parmi Dheensa and learned about the work she does for project TIMEOUT, which is part of charity Include Me TOO, based in Wolverhampton.
