POLICE have named a man who died in a collision on the A31.

Pedestrian, Gregory Prince, 32, was hit by a Volkswagen Polo near to Poulner Hill at 9.45pm last Thursday (August 2).

Mr Prince, of Spring Grove Walk, Leeds, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Investigations are ongoing into the exact circumstances of the collision, which led to police closing the A31 for several hours.

Due to the closure, LGVs were unable to proceed beyond junction two of the M27, while all other traffic faced a road closure at junction one.

Police had to turn traffic around on the road and there were reports of long delays.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or who has any dash cam footage from that area around the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44180292960.
