POLICE have named the pensioner who died after a car crashed into a cashpoint machine at a Hampshire supermarket.
Doris Mary Lush, 86, of Park Road in Chandler's Ford, suffered serious leg injuries in the incident at the Morrisons store in Totton last Thursday.
Mrs Lush died shortly after being taken to Southampton General Hospital.
She was with a 22-year-old woman, also from Chandler's Ford, who suffered what police have described as life-changing injuries in the accident.
Mrs Lush's family today described her as an "exceptional woman, a wonderful mother and an amazing grandmother".
Their statement added: "Her death has sent shockwaves through our family. Words cannot express the sense of loss in such a tragic incident.”
A police spokesman said officers were still investigating the accident.
The driver of the car, a 76-year-old woman from Totton, sustained minor injuries and was also taken to Southampton General Hospital.
Floral tributes have been placed at the scene of the tragedy and all three cashpoints have been boarded up
