A man in his 20s was struck on the back of the head by an object believed to be a piece of wood in Ringwood on Wednesday night.

The victim was walking along a pathway between 9.10pm and 9.20pm on Wednesday July 11, between Ringwood Leisure Centre and Manor Road when he was approached by two men who demanded money from him.

He was then struck on the back of the head before the men continued to demand money.

After being told by the victim he had no money on him, the men left the area back along the footpath in the direction of School Lane. Nothing was stolen.

One of the men has been described as white, between 5ft 10ins and 5ft 11ins tall, slim, short brown hair, and wearing a white T-shirt with dark blue jeans.

The second man was described as white, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, slim, short dark hair, wearing a dark top and dark bottoms.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, and are particularly keen to speak to a cyclist who was seen on the footpath to the rear of Ringwood School, as he may have seen the men leaving the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44180261478, or call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
