A STUNT team from the world’s most popular motoring TV show is set to wow the crowds at a major new event in Hampshire.

Skilled drivers from the Top Gear team are promising to provide spectators with plenty of thrills and spills during an action-packed display at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, this weekend.

Over the past 10 years the drivers have performed at venues around the globe, entertaining millions of people with an impressive selection of stunts.

Now the high-octane show is coming to the first ever Beaulieu Supercar Weekend, which is expected to attract tens of thousands of spectators.

Paul Swift, who leads the drivers, said: “The Top Gear Stunt Team is a fabulous opportunity to create brand new sequences with mainstream cars as well as wowing audiences with some of the incredible vehicles that we toured around the world as part of Top Gear Live.”

A Beaulieu spokesman added: “There’s a huge deal of excitement surrounding the high octane entertainment that the team will bring to Beaulieu.”

The two-day event will feature an exhibition of more than 350 supercars.

Visitors will also be able to admire Murray’s Magnificent Machines, a gleaming tribute to legendary motor racing commentator Murray Walker.

Beaulieu will honour the man dubbed the voice of Formula One by displaying some of his favourite cars and motorcycles from the world of motorsport.

Murray, 92, lives in the New Forest and is a frequent visitor to the museum.

In 2014, he was one of three celebrities who opened a new motorcycle gallery at the attraction. His father, Graham Walker, was the curator of the first motorcycle collection at Beaulieu.

The veteran commentator will talk about his career highlights in conversation with racing driver and TV presenter Tiff Needell at a gala evening on Saturday.

Beaulieu’s managing director Russell Bowman said: “We are delighted that Murray has accepted Lord Montagu’s invitation to be part of our first Beaulieu Supercar Weekend.

“Not only is Murray a motor racing icon but he has a long history with Beaulieu, which makes it natural that we pay tribute to him at this special event.”

The weekend will also celebrate the achievements of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the man responsible for many of the most memorable supercars ever created.

Other highlights include the Super-SUV Secret Garden, which will showcase 550hp cars capable of crossing continents in a single day.

Top Gear became a global phenomenon under presenting team Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, proving one of the BBC’s most successful exports.

After Clarkson was sacked for punching a producer, the latest series with Chris Evans at the helm was widely panned by critics. The radio presenter has since quit ahead of the start of filming for the news series in September.
