THEY have been popping up in streets and parks across Southampton but soon one multicoloured rhino could be popping up in your home.

The Go! Rhinos trail has proved a huge hit during its first few weeks in the city, drawing in residents and tourists who have joined the stampede.

But now one lucky child has the chance to win their very own mini rhino, which they can design themselves and keep, thanks to the launch of Marwell’s Go! Rhinos Design Competition.

The mini mammal will be decorated with the youngster’s winning design, providing one family with a permanent memory of the public art extravaganza.

The aim of the project was to create a unique day out that would attract thousands to the city, providing a huge boost to the local economy and giving Southampton its “wow” factor.

Once the trail is over, the 36 life-sized rhinos will be auctioned off with the money being split between Wessex Heartbeats HIGH 5 Appeal, The Rose Road Association and Marwell’s conservation charity.

HOW TO ENTER:

All you have to do is design your very own rhino.

The competition entry form and rhino template can be collected from our Go! Rhinos headquarters in the Marlands Shopping Centre, where a small herd of the sculptures are currently grazing.

Once your design is complete simply post the entry to Go! Rhinos, Marwell Wildlife, Colden Common, Winchester, Hampshire, SO21 1JH or post into the Marlands Go! Rhinos HQ post box.

Entries can also be emailed to gorhinos@marwell.org.uk. The closing date is September 15. This competition is open to children aged four-12 years old only. The winner will also win a family ticket to Marwell Zoo as well as five runners up.
