GOALS 72 AND 73: December 10, 2011 – Saints 2 Blackpool 2 Lambert opened the scoring with a deflected strike but Saints were behind after conceding a pair of sloppy goals, including a howler from Bartosz Bialkowski. They were rescued at the death by Lambert, though, as he headed home Frazer Richardson’s lofted ball into the box.
GOAL 74: December 18, 2011 Pompey 1 Saints 1 If he wasn’t already there, this was a goal that elevated Lambert to true hero status, heading in Danny Fox’s second-half free-kick to put Saints in front at Fratton Parl. Pompey would equalise, but Lambert described his goal as “one of the best feelings I’ve ever had”.
GOAL 75: January 28, 2012 Millwall 1 Saints 1 (FA Cup) After returning from a three-game ban for the first red card of his career, in a 3-0 defeat at Brighton, Lambert was straight back on the goal trail, putting Saints in front with a stunning glancing header from a Dan Harding cross.
