HAVANT-based artist Agata Wojcieszkiewicz explores identity and immigration in a new, hard-hitting exhibition at The Spring.

“Time, place and identity are important to me. I am an immigrant stuck in limbo between the past and present worlds...”she explains.

Having studied and gaining traditional training in Poland then moving to England in 2011, Agata now lives and works from a studio at ‘Making Space’ in Havant. There, she created some of her recent works displayed in this exhibition that demonstrate her perceptive on contemporary Britain as a Polish immigrant.

Elements of Agata Wojcieszkiewicz’s work are inspired by her time working as a cleaner at Queen Alexander Hospital and also features Portsmouth, giving this exhibition an extremely local feel and makes the topic of immigration relevant for spectators from the borough.

Agata’s work will be also be accompanied by her artist statement, giving the viewer an insight in to her inspiration, background and how she produces these creations.

Her work was last displayed at The Spring earlier this year, when she won first place in their Open Exhibition and they are "very pleased to welcome her back. "

The exhibition will be available for viewing until Sunday 30 December in the Mezzanine Gallery at The Spring
