1 In Southampton...

This weekend, get ready to cheer on the Saints in the semi-final of the FA Cup by visiting the SeaCity Museum’s We March On exhibition – a celebration of the highs and lows associated with the city’s football club.

Myths busted, legends unearthed; the new gallery has something for every single football lover, or passionate resident of Southampton. The exhibition runs between 10am and 5pm daily until October 28.

Jon Chase reveals the current truth about aliens, delving into the fiction and the facts and revealing the real scientific search for aliens being carried out by the worlds’s leading space agencies and universities. Enjoy Jon s extra-terrestrial live science show as part of a full day out at the Science Centre.

A full schedule of planetarium shows and hands-on investigative activities in the Invention Studio will be running as well as free alien face-painting, and a film screening of Home (U) in the planetarium on Saturday.

3 In Lyndhurst...

Love Chocolate?

Then you’ll love the New Forest Chocolate Fair on Saturday at Lyndhurst Community Centre.

The day sees an exciting range of stalls and activities throughout the day, including a chocolate demonstration by Miss Witt – learn how to make sea salt caramel brittle using beautiful French sea salt in an interactive demo which involves audience participation!

There will be something for everyone including international chocolates, shakes, pastries, drinks, desserts, cakes, chocolate makers, decorators, products and much more. Entry is free, but there may be charges on the stalls and activities.

4 In Romsey...

There’s much more to The Rapids than swimming lanes, so why not pop along this weekend and find out how much fun you can have in the water braving the rapids, riding the flume, dodging the tipping bucket, enjoying the bubble seats or pretending to be out sailing the high seas on the pirate ship.

Splash time includes the use of the features pool with the bubble seats, pirate ship and beach area.

5 In Exbury...

Take your four-legged friend on an adventure devoted to dogs at Exbury Gardens on Sunday, and receive 20 percent off of one person’s gardens admission.

Dogs are welcome at Exbury Gardens, including on the steam railway and in the tea rooms, as long as they are kept on a short lead and leave nothing behind but paw prints!

There are over 22 miles of pathways with a variety of walking surfaces and different habitats to explore. The majority of pathways are flat and it is very easy walking.

Water bowls are provided and a leaflet given to visitors on arrival shows the location of dog bins.

6 In Eastleigh...

Take the kids on a day out to Eastleigh Lakeside Steam Railway this weekend, where they can be a conductor for a day.

The steam trains run from the main station at Eastleigh Parkway to Monks Brook Halt – pop your mini-conductors on mini-locomotives and steam through the Hampshire countryside.

On your journey you’ll pass a lake, a children’s playground and plenty of picnic tables to enjoy a scrumptious lunch.

The steam train returns back to the main station from Monks Brook Halt, with the entire trip totalling 15-20 minutes.

7 In Southampton...

Check out medieval Southampton on Saturday in a guided walk, Inside & Under Medieval Southampton – The Merchants Town.

Enclosed within the walls was a town crowded with merchants, craftsmen and sailors. Wool poured out through the port, and luxuries poured in.

The merchants lavished their wealth on magnificent houses, the corporation on great warehouses, and trade halls, but it was also a time of disease and the Black Death entered England through the port of Southampton.

Tickets cost £5 and the walk meets at 10.30am outside Tudor House Museum in Bugle Street.

Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len have a cunning plan to steal the farmer’s fine prize cow. But they reckon without the tiniest, quietest creature of all – the ladybird has a plan of her own!

Join the woolly sheep, the hairy hog, the fat red hen and the dainty dog in this glittering stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks’ colourful farmyard adventure, with live music, puppetry, plenty of audience participation and lots of laughs.

Visit the Locks Heath Teddy Bear Fair at Lockswood Community Centre on Saturday, between 11am and 4pm, and discover some wonderful new artists bears, collectors bears and animals, vintage bears, antique bears and Charlie Bears, as well as fantastic related accessories for sale. So if you're a new or seasoned bear collector or maker, go along and browse the many bears, local artists with bear themed arts and crafts, cakes and refreshments.

10 In Havant...

Explore acres of ancient woodland and beautifully landscaped parkland this weekend at the award winning Staunton Country Park.

Escape to another age and discover mysterious follies in the idyllic surroundings. Let the kids loose in 1,000 acres of landscaped parkland, then take a stroll around the farm and feed the fun and friendly animals, or see if you can find your way out of the Golden Jubilee Maze. A number of different trails are available for children, that are suitable for all ages, and available from the Visitor Centre, including one about the fascinating world of water.
