NoFit State Circus and Motionhouse’s thrilling dance-circus collaboration BLOCK will headline Winchester’s festival of Outdoor Arts, Hat Fair, on Friday June 29, the first night of festival at Winchester Bus Station.

BLOCK has been created by the unique styles of the UK’s leading contemporary circus company, NoFit State, and the extraordinary dance-circus company Motionhouse joining forces. The show is directed by Kevin Finnan MBE, founder and artistic director of Motionhouse, whose previous work has included the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

BLOCK is a powerful fusion that pushes the limits of dance and circus art forms.

Twenty oversized blocks, fashioned to resemble giant concrete Jenga blocks are deconstructed and reformed into an infinite variety of shapes for the performers to play on, move with and explore.

BLOCK is about life in a city: its contradictions and challenges. Living large, living fast and sometimes living in the cracks, this extraordinary cast survive and thrive in the world of blocks.

With daring physicality, split-second timing and thrilling feats, this exhilarating collaboration leaves audiences gasping.

Since its creation BLOCK has astounded audiences across the world. This month the production has been performed at Festival 2018 – the arts and cultural program of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Hat Fair is the UK’s longest running Outdoor Arts festival. It attracts around 60,000 visitors to Winchester every year. This year’s festival will run from Friday June 29 to Sunday July 1. The festival is free to attend.
