WAVE 105 has been awarded Radio Station of the Year at the prestigious Bauer Media Radio Awards.
The awards ceremony took place in London and saw nationwide radio stations from the Bauer Media group compete in 25 award categories. The Radio Station of the Year award is described as ‘for the best of the best – a station which leads where others in their competitive set can only follow.’ Wave 105 has achieved record audience figures in the last 12 months from (RAJAR) independent audience research. The latest results revealed that 404,000 people are tuning in, for an average of 11.2 hours a week, delivering 4,540,000 total listening hours each week.
Judges who presented the award to Wave 105 last week, said: “… in 2016 this station set new records in reach hours, reaching the pinnacle of its 18 year history. Not to be outdone, the commercial team also delivered a record breaking performance – with revenue and shape KPI’s pushing it to the top of the local sales league.
“The culture in this team is personified by our Gold Award winner of last year – what made Martin Ball a winner then has made his team winners this year.”
Martin Ball, managing director at Wave 105 said: “As clichéd as it may sound, we’re a positive, committed and talented team which create a great culture and set out to make a difference to our audiences and clients, and perform to the best of our ability every day.
“For the Wave 105 team to be recognised for what they passionately enjoy doing on a day-to-day basis is hugely rewarding and a great achievement.”
