ONE of the most anticipated dance events of 2016, English National Ballet presents Akram Khan’s Giselle comes to Mayflower Theatre next week ( from Wednesday October 26 - Saturday October 29).

Principal casting for Akram Khan’s Giselle sees Lead Principals Alina Cojocaru, Tamara Rojo, Fernanda Oliveira and First Artist Madison Keesler perform in the title role, alongside Lead Principal Isaac Hernandez, and Soloists James Streeter and Fernando Bufalá as Albrecht.

His first full length ballet, Akram Khan’s Giselle sees Academy-Award winning designer Tim Yip, known for his work on the hit film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, design the set and costumes, while composer Vincenzo Lamagna creates an adaptation of the original score, orchestrated by Music Director, Gavin Sutherland and performed live by English National Ballet Philharmonic. Giselle also features dramaturgy from Ruth Little and lighting design from Mark Henderson.

English National Ballet is thrilled that Akram Khan’s Giselle has been supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. The investment of £360,000 will enable the delivery of this ambitious collaborative production as well as helping to connect with audiences beyond the stage with a comprehensive engagement programme.
