A Southampton Arts organisation, known for providing exhibition spaces to up and coming local artist, has planned its first in person event as lockdown restrictions ease.
‘a space’ arts have announced RIPE Live as part of their programme to support the work of students at Southampton Solent University and Winchester School of Art.
The event, in the heart of Southampton promises "an evening of artistic exploration and celebration" with a showcase of new work by previous RIPE graduates and emerging artists in the city. Originally scheduled to take place from 16th to 18th July, due to changes in government guidance the event will now take place from 23rd to 25th July.
Visitors will be able to explore the most recent RIPE exhibition at the Alfred Arcade, Tomato Catch-up, a collaborative project that aims to encourage artistic and professional development through a series of skills-sharing workshops and activities. Featuring work by 2020 graduates from Solent University and Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton.
There will also be a showcase of new work by ZEST artist, Benji Heinke at the Hidden Wardrobe. For this solo exhibition, Remote Icons, Benji is exhibiting a series of new paintings made over the last two years.
Live music will be provided by Southampton based DJ, HANIN, along with live visuals created in collaboration with RIPE artist, James Hewins, taking place at the Alfred Arms where drinks will be served from 6pm – 10pm.
For those unable to attend in person, both exhibitions will be launched online on the ‘a space’ arts YouTube channel.
